NRIs are in a pivotal position to provide critical leadership, especially those retiring persons who have the inclination to spend sometime in their ancestral villages. They know the primitive conditions in the villages in Punjab and the rest of India and from their exposure of the developed world, they know what those villages can be. They can raise funds from their village folks abroad, and others, as well as the villagers in their ancestral villages to improve the living conditions there. Incidentally, when the improvements are in place, the modern conveniences will make their own visit to their villages so much more comfortable and enjoyable for them as well as the children brought up abroad.
